Our Origin

Why Cognosense Was Formed

Our team spent years bringing hands-on agricultural science into communities, working alongside the One Planet Education Network (OPEN). Cognosense AI, LLC was formed to build the Rowan Guardian platform on top of that experience — and owns it outright.

During this work, we watched a troubling, well-documented pattern emerge: generative, conversational tools were actively destroying the critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, and problem-solving skills of the people who relied on them. Rather than wrestling with their plants — learning to read leaves, interpret soil, understand weather patterns — growers were outsourcing their thinking to screens that gave instant answers with no evidence, no context, and no accountability.

We formed Cognosense specifically to combat this crisis. We built Rowan Guardian to act as the antidote: a Socratic Digital Mentor that doesn't hand you answers — it teaches you to find them yourself, using evidence-tagged reasoning, real sensor data, and the same diagnostic process that extension agents have used for generations.

This is a brand-new software launch. We are currently enrolling our first cohort of growers, farms, and research partners for the 2026–2027 growing season. We are starting small, building deep trust, and working with every pilot as true partners.
